1st gig: Motorhead, Preston Guildhall, 1983(?) (Another Perfect Day Tour)
Last: Full Metal Racket at The Spiders Web, Haymarket
Next: ? No idea at the moment
Best: Difficult. It's hard to compare different gigs over a twenty year period. Toyah, Tom Robinson, The Eggplants, all in the running. Lets say Tom Robinson at the Assembly Rooms in (I think) 1989 - the year he covered Mommy is a Lawyer. He played everything he'd prepared and ended up doing Power In The Darkness accompanied by the audience clapping & stamping out the rhythm.
Worst: Half Man Half Biscuit, The Venue, December 2nd 1992 (three days before I got married!) They didn't seem to have any enthusiasm for what they were doing. (discounting pub bands and school shows, of course.)
Memorable: Has to be Eric Clapton at Wembley Stadium, June 1992. We got engaged, the next song he played was "Wonderful Tonight" and the people sittting behind us got up & moved! It was a double bill with Elton John on second. We left during his set so as to get a clear run at the tubes and hence got to skip hand-in-hand down the ramps in front of the towers while the assorted merchandise vendors and security guards watched in confusion.
Sadly missed: Oh, too many to mention! If I only had a time machine.
Always a pleasure: Kenny Young and the Eggplants
Best venue: I think I'd have to answer this as "Least Bad". Nowhere memorably good, anyway. The Astoria in London.
Worst venue: Wembley Stadium. My first (and last) stadium gig.
Like to see: New Model Army again, when I'm not exhausted!
