Depends if they have issues with hitting - sometimes you have to let them hit you for a while so they get used to the idea. But I don't think anyone there was learning anything, except possibly the inadvisability of cosplay.
costume play. you dress up as stuff. generally Anime based but i guess it covers all kinds of things now. like re-enactment for stuff that isn't history :)
some of it is quite impressive, most of it is kind of scary and generally ill advised.
WTF? Apart from the combat being pish, if it wasn't choregraphed, there were some real safety issues - e.g. no eye protection, but people coming into Ochs (hands high, point forward). Then there was the minor issue of no safety barrier.... the whole thing is a Darwin Award waiting to happen.
