The Rise of Disaster Capitalism - an interesting analysis of how capitalism is taking advantage of reconstruction programs to subvert national governments to their agenda.

I posted the link to the University Film Society forum, where it lasted a few minutes before being removed as inappropriate by the moderator. That is avatar is Garfield may suggest it wasn't a good idea...

No, having Garfield as an avatar sounds like a really bad idea to me!

The other link is more serious - reminds me of various Dead Kennedy's tracks like"When You Get Drafted" etc.

101 uses for a dead cat ...

I take it you caught the stories about that taxidermist in the USA who has had death threats after advertising a "make your dead pet into a pillow" service.

As to the other - I was surprised to discover recently just how organised Anarcho-capitalism actually is. After some more background reading, I get the feeling that I'm more of a Minarchist than an An-cap.

USA agenda

Confirming what we suspect by writing about it. This sort of thing has been part of christian (and probably other) cultures for ages. But it feels more sinister when sanctioned by the US Administration. Those are seriously paranoid people. Should they be forced to go backpacking with little budget (thus having to experience human goodwill to others)? Or is it safer if they don't leave the US? Is it a co-incidence that I grew up in the same culture that George Galloway did? It is good that he has the courage to sing a different tune. However, I don't like his style. But I'm glad he's singing. I want to see the US 'occupation' of various bits of the UK called airbases etc, end. However, I don't think this will happen. I just see the UK becoming part of the USA. That's one of the reasons I left the UK. There are still some parts of the world that aren't rolling over completely to the agression of the USA. I think Australia is now sorry it signed a 'free trade agreement' with the USA. It works in the US favour, but they were too blinded to see it coming. Power corrupts absolutely, and thankfully all empires eventually fall.

Lots in that rant, sorry.
