Five things I have done :
Met, fallen in love with and married
nickys
Been told with great sincerity that I am the best Daddy in the world.
Been told with great sincerity that I am the worst Daddy in the world.
Organised events that people have enjoyed.
Achieved a reasonable level of self knowledge.
And five things I haven't done and want to (with estimated chance) :
Stay married to
nickys for the rest of our lives (4/5 - it doesn't do to be complacent!)
See my daughters grow up into happy, confident and fulfilled adults. (4/5, I'm hoping)
Become independently wealthy (0/5!)
Have time to complete all my projects (0/5)
I dunno - I'm pretty much where I want to be. More money & more time would be nice but the cost would probably be too high. I guess I'm aware of how lucky I am in terms of what I have, and there's nothing really important I don't have. Lots of toys & places to go, etc., but nothing that really matters to me as much as keeping my family going. Hmm. I actually found myself seriously thinking about pension provision of my own volition earlier today. More babysitters who'll cover for late nights would be good, as would more clubs that don't insist on having the bass turned all the way up and everything else turned right down. There were several songs at the Mission last Saturday that were nearly unrecognisable because the balance was so bad.
I like to go out and dance, but I like a reasonable mix of stuff I know & stuff I don't, and a mix of sounds. Monoculture sets where every song sounds just like the last one get dull very quickly. Oh, more DJs who realise that the point is to get people to dance, not to massage their egos. And more people in the club who realise that it doesn't matter what you look like - get up and dance even if you look like a fool. You'll have a lot more fun.
Gah. Rant over. I suppose what I really need is a house big enough to have a dancefloor so I can host my own. Anyway, I need to go and pack since we're leaving for our tour of the country before the traffic wardens wake up in the morning. Bye.
