A new 24 hour MTB race has just been announced:

The Strathpuffer 24 is a 24 hour race for solo riders and teams of 2 or 4. It will be held on 14 -15th January 2006 near Strathpeffer, a pretty spa town just north of Inverness.

Strathpeffer, night of 14/15th January: Sunset 16:05, Sunrise 08:49. The race runs 10 am to 10 am.

Anybody up for it?

I suspect a seriously mudworthy bike is an essential. I enjoyed the night laps I did when we went to the Red Bull race, partly because it was too hot for me during the day. At least I wouldn't overheat at this one...

indeedy. the guys at my regular bike shop have been pushing me to get a full susser Kona beastie for ages now. I will get one eventually, when I have less important things to spend the money on.

riding through the Highlands is something I've wanted to do for a looooong time anyways =)

I have a back burner project to go and do some of the old drove roads, but have yet to achieve the level of organisation required to actually do much about it.

I've been a little frustrated this year concerning how much money I got through just trying to stay sane in my old flat....

I think I'll be abe to get everthing paid off witing the next 6-9 months, after which I will definately look into getting new bike/time off and whatnot. At the moment I'm concentrating on getting debt-free. That, for me, is a massive (and very welcome) change in mind-set.

I don't think I can impress upon you how little I want to do that. There is a malt whisky tasting on the Wednesday beforehand if you need fortifying before you go.
